The 26th Year

Ah, another year, another number.  When I got up this morning I decided this years birthday theme would be hoedown, which may have been influenced by the WAY cute wild west cowboy party my friend had for her son's first birthday.  It also happened to work out well since I had requested barbeque for my birthday dinner :).  So naturally, I wore my cowgirl shirt to work to celebrate and then partied hoedown style with my family.  I love my family...they're great at rolling with the punches! (because by the way, I informed them of the theme of my birthday dinner an hour before it...whoops).  Oh, and sadly I forgot to take pictures...I was having too much fun or sick from too much cookie cake and bbq.

On a totally different topic, I love these colors!  I think this is my new favorite color pallet.

Here's the back story on how I found this arrangement (because I know everyone was wondering): On the way home from my parents, I bought myself flowers as a birthday gift and to have something pretty to look at all night as I typed my last paper for classes this semester (wahoo!).  So I get home, put the roses in a vase, make them look pretty, and set them next to my computer.  Next thing I know I have a cat zooming across the table and devouring the beautiful arrangement.  Luckily, he responds really well to "NO" and not much damage was done.  One thing led to another and as I researching whether roses were poisonous for cats, I found a website (ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center) that created a pet-friendly collection of flower arrangements through one of those big flower companies, with a bonus of 20% of the proceeds going to their organization.  Who knew someone would ever think to create a pet-friendly collection so you could rest easy knowing the flowers you sent won't kill your friends beloved pets?  Crazy world out there.

Late Night Craft Projects

Magazines are my comfort food.  Lately, though I haven't had much time to spend indugling in them.  So I've an adnormal amount in my "must read" pile.  Tonight for some reason I decided it was time to figure how I could organize this madness. And then I saw this fan box...and the rest was history.

And for your enjoyment I included the picture with my cat enjoying it as well. It was hard to get a shot without him. He was feeling photogentic tonight.

Good Weekend.

I give this weekend a much needed A.  First off, it was freakin beautiful this weekend!  Second, I got to play disc golf twice...and teach a friend how to play (thus securing many more weekends of good times).  Third (okay, no more counting), i was able to start to tackle my much neglected stack of magazines.  Which also included a GQ I randomly picked up at CVS (their coverboy warnated it...Mr. Jake Gyllenhaal).  I discovered GQ is actually a really quality magazine and that I liked Diesel...thanks to their 4 scent related inserts.  Church was also a good time this weekend. I helped out with the kids community Sunday and this super sweet girl that was visiting with one of the regulars (we had a lot of "sleepover visitors" this week) gave me a picture she painted.  So precious.  I put it up on my fridge.

I appreciate the kids at my church they keep me grounded and hopeful of children...it's a nice balance to my job.

The rest of the weekend was filled with good conversation, sunshine, and bonding with my couch...good times all around.

Now time to start the work week.

Sundays

This is what my cat and I do on Sundays.  All day.  Today I managed atleast 5 hours of naps...I KNOW...seriously I had no idea my was capable of desiring that much sleep.  Oh well, so glad I was able to get it.

The Tree

I finished decorating the Christmas tree...I could stare at it all day. As for the rest of the apartment...well, it's in transition. :)

Dinner.

The first dinner I've made (outside of soup) since...I think mid-August. Exciting. It was good. And it was entirely made possible by my mother who came over last night and helped me do my dishes and clean my apartment - it was her way of supporting me as I go back to school. She's amazing.

Good weekend...visited my grandparents, shot off nonnoise making fireworks, picked veggies from my parents garden, caughtup on sleep, & hungout at a royals game

Good Laughs

I love my late night network-knock-off-channel tv. I mean what more could you really need? I have everything from According to Jim, Two and Half Men, Everybody Loves Raymond, King of Queens, Scrubs, Frasier, Seinfeld, Sex and the City, and trashy entertainment shows. Awesome. I just laughed uncontrollably hard at According to Jim.

I also love the commercials...I'm watching an ad for Chia Cat Grass. Hilarious. Which brings me to my next thought...I'm thinking about starting a family...by getting a cat. Yes, I did have one, Koji, but he is now my parents. So I'm thinking about making the step again...big decisions :)
